Call monitoring only records one side of the conversation

SYMPTOMS


When playing back a monitored call, only one side of the conversation is present.


SOLUTION


The Asterisk 'Monitor' command records the incoming and outgoing channels of a call into different files. Upon call completion, and with the proper command parameter (set in Trixbox by default), Asterisk Monitor will merge these files into one file with both channels.

If having the above problems, it is most likely an issue with sox not being installed. In CentOS, this will provide the fix:

# yum install sox
