Changing Webmin Password(s)

SYMPTOMS
  • You cannot login to Webmin
  • You forgot your Webmin password


SOLUTION
You can reset any user's password in Webmin by doing the following:
1. Login to your server or VPS via SSH. Make sure you are the root user and run the following command:
Customize these commands by entering your own information in the input fields. Then copy and paste the command in your shell terminal.

Username: Password:
[CentOS/Fedora/Gentoo]
/usr/libexec/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin USERNAME PASSWORD
[Debian]
/usr/share/webmin/changepass.pl /etc/webmin USERNAME PASSWORD
2. Login to Webmin with the newly set password!
